Position: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher
Location: Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

We are looking for a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our team at a leading school in Milton Keynes. The successful candidate will support students with a range of special educational needs, including but not limited to learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, and other developmental challenges. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students by creating an inclusive, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student, setting clear and achievable learning goals.

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet a wide range of learning styles, abilities, and needs, including students with SEMH challenges.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to provide holistic support for students, ensuring their emotional, social, and academic development.

  • Regularly assess students’ progress, adapting teaching methods and materials to ensure continued growth and engagement.

  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, providing updates on progress and working together to implement strategies for success and emotional well-being.

  • Promote an inclusive classroom environment, fostering acceptance, empathy, respect, and positive behaviour for all students, especially those with SEMH needs.

  • Apply positive behaviour management techniques to create a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment where students feel secure and valued.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay informed about current best practices in SEN education, including approaches to supporting students with SEMH needs.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Teaching certification in Special Education (or equivalent).

  • Proven experience working with students with SEN, especially those with SEMH needs, learning disabilities, and other developmental challenges.

  • Strong understanding of special educational needs, including knowledge of SEMH strategies and approaches.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • A passion for supporting children with special educational needs and helping them achieve their full potential, both academically and socially.

  • Full-time and part-time positions available, offering flexible working hours.
